Journal leaders should therefore define a small approval matrix for post-publication metadata changes. Production should be able to fix obvious technical errors quickly. Editors should approve changes that affect attribution, dates, article status, licensing, funding acknowledgements, conflicts of interest, ethics statements, or the visibility of corrections and retractions.
